Martin Lawrence Galleries, South Coast Plaza is hosting an art reception on Saturday, November 19 (5 to 8 pm) with a personal appearance by Liudmila Kondakova. Meet the artist and enjoy a spectacular exhibition showcasing fascinating new original works. Three of Kondakova’s newest limited edition prints on canvas, Pont des Arts, Terrace in the Left Bank and Window in the Mezzanine, will be unveiled.
Born in Russia in 1956, Liudmila Kondakova immigrated to the United States in 1991. A graduate of the Grabar Center in Moscow, she also attended Russia’s School of Sacred Arts, the Moscow Pedagogical Institute and the Moscow Art Institute. Since her childhood in Russia, Liudmila Kondakova has been fascinated by traditional art, by a sense of spirituality that transcends common existence. Her painting technique is that employed by medieval egg-tempera painters. Her palette—influenced by the icon painters of Byzantium and later Russia—is both vibrant and beautiful, with colors that blend in a subtle, poetic balance.
This rare exhibition is open to the public, prominent art collectors and local business leaders. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy Kondakova’s new original artworks and interact with art professionals and patrons. The event is sponsored by The Best Gumbo in the Hood through Angela Eason Enterprises, The Kitsch Bar, and HawkinStudios.
