July 2014 Martin Lawrence Galleries introduces Anne Faith Nicholls
at “The Art of Imagining” event in Las Vegas.
Greenwich, CT—The biggest story to come out of last week’s Art of Imagining event in Las Vegas is Anne Faith Nicholls. Nicholls is the most recently signed artist at Martin Lawrence Galleries and this debut event for her was a near sell-out with 15 paintings sold. The energy and the verve around her paintings was palpable all weekend as clients were able to take advantage of Nicholl’s direct presence. She is very open about her work, and more than willing to discuss the elements that make up each image.
Nicholls’ artwork resonates in a market that has turned more representational in recent years. Her paintings carve out a unique visual territory of “neo-folk” figurative elements and surrealist symbolism in pieces that read almost like a personal tarot deck. Every image is thought-provoking and though the artist describes her work as shamelessly autobiographical, the appeal is nevertheless broad, touching on motifs of introspection or self-analysis, fear and courage, dreams and desire, perspectives attuned to women, and often the moments that spark creativity or life..

July 2014 Martin Lawrence Galleries
Unveils Salvador Dali's Largest Artwork
Greenwich, CT—Martin Lawrence Galleries, which specializes in original paintings, sculpture and limited edition graphics from masters including Chagall, Dalí, Bertho and Erté, will unveil the largest Salvador Dalí painting in the world, March of Time Committee: Papillon, 1940 at their Las Vegas Flagship Gallery this weekend. The painting, which is oil and tempera on joined unstretched canvas, stands at a whopping 17 feet tall by 63 feet wide.
“We are thrilled to be unveiling this rare and fabulous piece of artwork at our gallery,” said Las Vegas Gallery Director Stacie Goulet. “Dalí was such a prominent surrealist painter and skilled craftsman that his works of art are legendary.”
The “March of Time Committee, Papillon,” is the largest Dalí painting known to exist. The piece was commissioned by Wallace Laboratories, the inventors of the tranquilizer “Miltown” and is believed to have been created in the early 1950s as part of the media blitz around Miltown’s introduction. The artwork was also included in the extensive Dalí exhibition in 1995 at Amsterdam’s Museum Beurs van Berlage.
To celebrate the unveiling of the “March of Time Committee, Papillon,” Martin Lawrence Galleries will host a fundraiser, The Art of Imagining, to benefit the UMC Trauma and Burn Care Center which is Nevada’s only burn center. The unveiling will be Saturday evening on July 19 at Las Vegas Flagship Gallery located at the The Forum Shops at Caesar’s. The event will feature live entertainment from Carson & Tess Henley in addition to other rare artworks from around the world.
