Martin Lawrence Galleries Auction to Benefit Belle Reve

The French Quarter’s premier gallery of fine art, Martin Lawrence Galleries of New Orleans, will offer an exciting collection of original paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture during an afternoon art auction on Sunday, March 30, at the Wyndham Hotel Canal Place. A generous portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to the local nonprofit organization, Belle Reve.

Martin Lawrence Galleries is celebrating its second auction in New Orleans with an exceptional array of artwork. More than 200 works will be offered by regional artists as well as 20th Century masters including an original painting, “Le Peintre a la Palette” by Marc Chagall. Other exceptional works include Chagall’s “The Magic Flute”, Erte’s “Heat”, Kerry Hallam’s “Galveston”, Toulouse-Lautrec’s “Jane Avril au Jardin de Paris”, as well as original and printed works by Picaso, Warhol and others. In addition, a superb collection of eminently affordable works by regional and decorative artists will be presented, including artwork by Leroy Neiman, Peter Max, Liudmila Kondakova, Michel Delacroix, R.C. Gorman, Sam Francis, Thomas McKnight, James Rizzi and others. “We are truly delighted to celebrate our second auction here in New Orleans", explained Gallery Director, Mary Coxe. Belle Reve is a Louisiana based non-profit organization, founded in 1993, which has been providing permanent and transitional housing with full support services to adults ands families living with HIV infection. Concern for quality of life and equal availability of services for all such persons are the founding principles of this highly respected organization.

During the reception, guests can enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The art preview begins at 12:30pm; the auction starts promptly at 2:00pm. The event is free and open to the public, though seating is generally limited due to heavy interest. Color catalogues are available prior to the auction through the gallery. Works can be acquired using all major credit cards, including a no interest, no payment finance plan offered by the gallery.
