About the Work

In 2011, Takashi Murakami debuted new paintings that were a tribute to Yves Klein, the late French artist who is considered a leading proponent of Nouveau réalisme and developer of the famous International Klein Blue (IKB). For Yves Klein, pink represented blood, the fluid which sustained life. It would ultimately become one of the three colors in which he worked, and Murakami used in “An Homage to Monopink, 1960 D”. “An Homage to Monopink, 1960 D”. is a 29 x 21 – inch offset lithograph with cold stamp.
