About the Work

Salvador Dalí is commonly regarded as one of the greatest Surrealist artists, whose personality was often displayed within his magnificent works of art. He practiced sculpting, advertising, printmaking, fashion, filmmaking, and more. Dalí’s mischievousness and wonderful personality contributed to his status as an international celebrity, but he is better known for his most distinct attribute: his mastery of art. Dalí’s significance and talent rank him among the most versatile and prolific artists of the 20th century. "The tree of Knowledge" is a hand-signed engraving in the Le Paradis Perdu series. The image size is 10.5 x 8.25 - inches.

Regarded as one of the most important works in literature, John Milton’s Paradise Lost (Paradis Perdu) was illustrated in ten color etchings by master Salvador Dalí in 1974. The simplicity of line and careful draftsmanship exhibit the very turmoil of man’s battle with the temptation of Satan. This series is noted as having some of Dalí’s sharpest lines.
