Celestial Collection

Through the ages, astronomy has played an essential role in human history; many thematic elements of astronomy have been used in the arts for thousands of years.  In almost every culture on Earth objects in the sky have been subject of many drawings, and paintings. Even some of the earliest cave painting shows evidence of constellations being depicted. Van Gogh depicted turbulence’s in the night sky in “The Starry Night” down to mathematical precision, almost 120 years before scientists discovered turbulences. Today, we celebrate “Astronomy Day” each spring and fall. The spring “Astronomy Day” will be celebrated this year world-wide on May 11th, 2019. This year, in honor of “Astronomy Day” Martin Lawrence Galleries has put together a selection of art pieces based on astronomy. Enjoy these beautiful pieces of art inspired by starry night skies, and celestial objects.
