Martin Lawrence Galleries South Coast is launching Mark Kostabi’s art exhibition on Saturday, October 21 (6 to 8pm) with new abstract surrealistic artworks. The to-be-revealed imagery includes the remote landscape, up and close flora, abstract geometry, surreal architecture and the human connection.
Mark Kostabi was born in 1960 to Estonian immigrants and was raised in Whittier, California. He studied drawing and painting at California State University, Fullerton, then in 1982 he moved to New York and became a leading figure of the East Village art scene. In 1988, he founded Kostabi World- his large New York studio- and in the 1990’s his works were widely exhibited in the United States, Japan, Germany and Australia. For the past ten years, Kostabi has been dividing his time between New York and Rome and consequently his works’ strong presence in the Italian art scene has been greatly enhanced. His artworks are exhibited in over 50 museums throughout the world.
The exhibition is open to the public, prominent art collectors, business leaders and professionals. Sponsored by Divoon Dining, Calivino Wine Pub, Rudy Poe Photography, Heather’s Confections, Clarins, and Wine Wipes.
