About the Work

Salvador Dalí is one of the most famous and prolific artists of the twentieth century, his fantastic imagery and flamboyant personality made him the best-known artist of the Surrealist movement of the late 1920s and early 1930s. "Se quebro el cantero" is a hand-signed etching on heliogravure in the Les Caprices de Goya de Dalí series. The image size is 9 x 6.5 - inches.

Francisco Goya's Los Caprichos was an experiment to expose the foolish aspects of 18th-century Spanish society. Hundreds of years later, Salvador Dalí decided to transform the suite and present it as a new body of work.
Dali added his own handwork to each image and created some additional mischief with the titles to complete his commentary.
