About the Work

It is very important to Liudmila Kondakova to make people happy with her art. Her technique is very complex, and her studio looks like an alchemist’s laboratory, set up to fuse reality and a dream. However, she does not include any complicated concepts that require you to read long articles with obscure, and unfamiliar terms. Her art is simple and pleasing to the eye of the viewer but is also full of photographic details that enchant your way through a city skyline, a scene, or an object. She expects her art to be understood with the heart, from a person’s creative center. She hopes that people looking at her art will look at it with romance, light, and possibility in their heart. She wants people to look at her art with parts of their creative spirit that can appreciate all the facets of living. Liudmila Kondakova is an iconographer of the city. Her paintings are so rich with clarity and light that they reflect in their extraordinary draftsmanship a sense of artistic and spiritual well-being. In the hands of this artist, the mundane becomes extraordinary.

“Cadaques” is part of a 2006 collection of miniature lithographs produced as a comprehensive homage to Liudmila Kondakova’s dedication to the faces of cities. It amply demonstrates her wit, knowledge of art and the depth of her world travels. True to centuries of printmaking tradition, great pride was taken during the production of these prints. Liudmila Kondakova extensively participated in the entire printmaking process. The printer, Art Estampe, has been uncompromising in taking the many essential steps necessary to ensure that these works are faithful to the artist's vision.

“Cadaques” depicts an early morning scene in the Catalan region of Spain. An inviting red chair in the front of vertical green doors. Although the chair looks almost abandon the feeling that someone will soon return to enjoy the morning sunlight is prominent when you look at the artwork. “Cadaques” is a 3.25 x 2- inch hand-crafted stone lithograph on paper in an edition of 325, hand-signed by the artist.
