About the Work
"Villa di Mare" is an enhanced serigraph on canvas created by Kerry Hallam in 2001 for his 'La Dolce Vita' suite. From the edition of 260, the artwork is signed 'Kerry Hallam' lower right and annotated lower left. The canvas size is 18.5 x 22" and the artwork is framed in an ornate, carved, gold-tone frame. The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Mediterranean-themed scenes form some of Kerry Hallam’s most popular imagery, and those from the ‘La Dolce Vita’ suite exemplify all that makes Hallam’s artwork stand out. Reminiscent of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, each of these images convey the bright palette and easy spirit of that scenic and oft-visited corner of the world. As in the movie of the same title, the serigraphs of the La Dolce Vita suite invite us on a sentimental visit to these places. Like Marcello Mastroianni, the Italian movie star, we glide from one gorgeous locale to the next, where every day is a new adventure, a new dare, and a new possibility. Start your day at the Café di Porto, sipping cappuccino and watching the boats leave the harbor for a day at sea. Midday, visit the Piazza Giardino and take a break in a shady spot to escape the hot Mediterranean sun. Later, walk along the flower-lined Via Fiore on your way to meet up with friends in the afternoon, and then return to your seaside villa, Villa di Mare, to relax and make plans for the evening.
The works of Kerry Hallam translate the ordinary moment into the magical, inviting us to be revitalized by the simple pleasures of life. His images invite us to experience the rejuvenating power of these seaside havens - the transcendent blending of azure waters, flower-covered hillsides, and the brilliant sun that restores our spirit and soothes our soul.

About the Artist
An artist with a bold palette and a voracious appetite for life, Kerry Hallam is as refreshing and spirited as his paintings. The story of how he traveled from a daydreaming young artist from the north of England to a world-renowned expressionist visionary artist, living and painting in the continental US is one of great passion and perseverance. Hallam showed early artistic talent when he won a six-year scholarship to London University’s Central College of Art. After a formal art education under British master painters Leslie Cole, Patrick Heron, and Hans Tisdale, he completed his military service in the prestigious Gurkha brigade in Hong Kong and Malaya. Hallam’s talent was further acknowledged when he was selected for inclusion in Britain’s Royal Society of Artists in Watercolor. As a young artist searching for his own truth, Hallam immersed himself in the energy and passion of Southern France. The cradle of French Impressionism, with a legendary landscape, has given birth to many master artists through the ages. Acting upon this influence, Hallam says, “My ambition was to make definitive statements. Using van Gogh, Cezanne, Matisse, and Dufy as departure points, I would…build on their feelings, dance to their music”.
