About the Work

"Brave New Worlds 6" is a hand-signed digital pigment print with diamond dust on canvas created by Brad Faine in 2024. The canvas size is 43 x 43.25" and the artwork is framed in a contemporary black frame. The artwork ships framed.

Brad Faine brings our beautiful solar system to life with imaginative pairings of great landscape paintings with our many planets and moons. The eight major planets circle around a glowing sun by Van Gogh. The Earth and our Moon are graced by images of Monet’s water lilies and the rest of the planets are (Mercury) Georgia O'Keeffe, (Venus) Vincent van Gogh, (Mars) Andre Derain, (Jupiter) Paul Cezanne, (Saturn) Edvard Munch, (Uranus) Jan Toorop and (Neptune) Casper David Friedrich. Additional landscape paintings represent some of the 286 moons and dwarf planets in our system, and A- Z text around the border lists many of their most famous names. The background image is taken from a NASA photograph of the solar system.

Each of these mono-prints are produced digitally using archival inks on a stretched canvas, finished with a gloss varnish, and there is diamond dust on the rings of Saturn. Each mono-print is a one-of-a-kind, completely unique!

About the Artist

Brad Faine was born and raised in Brighton, England. He is the son of a Royal Australian Air Force bomber pilot and a British cabaret singer and was born in 1945. He studied Fine Arts (Painting) at Leicester College of Art, where he achieved a Dip Ad (Hons) under the tutelage of Harry Thubron, an early proponent of conceptual art. Subsequently, he completed a Post Graduate ATC course at Goldsmiths in London. During his time at Leicester, Faine developed the first truly playable three-dimensional Chess set, which was exhibited at the 'Invention of Problems' Exhibition at the ICA. He was also responsible for the concept for ‘Inter-play,’ one of the two British entries for the 1968 Paris Biennale.
