About the Work
"Primordial Splendor" is a serigraph on paper created by Bruce Ricker in 2000. From the edition of 500. The artwork is signed 'Ricker' lower right and annotated lower left. The image size is 30.25 x 30.25" and the artwork is framed in a contemporary black frame. The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Bruce Ricker is known for his fine brushstroke and exacting attention to detail – it takes him approximately one month to complete a single painting, lending his creations a rare and unique aura.
Growing up in Carmel Valley, California in the 1950s, Ricker spent his leisure time communing with the forests, hills and canyons of rural Northern California. As a developing artist, he embarked on a cathartic quest to explore artistically “the chaotic randomness of nature” by creating a dream-like vision of holistic balance in the universe, and a pioneering painting style which he calls ‘Epic Visionary.’
In this world between art and science, chaos and order, the real and the imaginary, we find the life affirming balance of "Primordial Splendor." Ricker’s gift for the deeply analytical translates to his ‘canvas’ with Zen-like intuition, as the minute details seen in the evergreen trees, prairie grasses and rock formations unite to form a work of startling depth. His intuitive use of the very colors found in nature, layered upon his own unique variations of those colors, enables Ricker to take a subject as ordinary as a mountain stream and give it the power to leap off the canvas and challenge our senses.
