About the Work

It is imperative to Liudmila Kondakova to make people happy with her artHer technique is very complex, and her studio looks like an alchemist’s laboratory, set up to fuse reality and a dream. However, she does not include any complicated concepts that require you to read long articles with obscure, and unfamiliar terms. Her art is simple and pleasing to the eye of the viewer but is also full of photographic details that enchant your way through a city skyline, a scene, or an object. She expects her art to be understood with the heart, from a person’s creative center. She hopes that people looking at her art will look at it with romance, light, and possibility in their heart. She wants people to look at her art with parts of their creative spirit that can appreciate all the facets of living.

Between Paris and New York, there is a true Iconographer of the city that is waiting to detail the ethereal beauty of a city in time. Liudmila Kondakova’s love for travel and architecture is fully demonstrated in her work. Whether she is traveling to London, Rome, Paris, New York, Venice or Chicago she always tries to bring back part of her travels through her artwork. In her paintings Kondakova tries to portray the cities just as they are; mysterious and beautiful, humble and exalted, decaying and thriving.

“Chrysler Building” is part of a 2006 collection of miniature lithographs produced as a comprehensive homage to Liudmila Kondakova’s dedication to the faces of cities. It amply demonstrates her wit, knowledge of art and the depth of her world travels. True to centuries of printmaking tradition, great pride was taken during the production of these prints. Liudmila Kondakova extensively participated in the entire printmaking process. The printer, Art Estampe, has been uncompromising in taking the many essential steps necessary to ensure that these works are faithful to the artist's vision. Liudmila Kondakova has masterfully captured the reflection of the evening sun reflected in the “Chrysler Building” with the vast New York looming in the horizon. “Chrysler Building” is a 3.75 x 2.75- inch hand signed lithograph on paper.
