Kerry Hallam—Nautical Paintings
May 1—May 31
NEW YORK—Please visit the historic Martin Lawrence Gallery in New York’s Soho district during month of May as we showcase the nautical paintings of New England artist Kerry Hallam. The artist’s unique acrylic paintings on authentic nautical charts highlight ports of call from New York City to the islands of Hawaii. This month, each chart painting is available beautifully framed and delivered with a hardback copy of Kerry’s autobiographical book Getting To Nantucket.
Kerry Hallam is as refreshing and spirited as his paintings. He creates enticing images through bold palettes and captivating compositions. Born in Northern England, Hallam showed early artistic talent when he won a six-year scholarship to London University’s Central College of Art. After a formal art education under British master painters, he completed his military service in the prestigious Gurkha brigade. Hallam’s talent was further acknowledged when he was selected for inclusion in Britain’s Royal Society of Artists in Watercolor.
Enthusiasm for his art is fully evident in Kerry Hallam’s vivid, windswept seascapes and timeless, sun-dappled village scenes. Strongly inspired by the Fauves, Hallam has a strong affinity for the 19th century French Post-Impressionists, Cézanne and Van Gogh.
