Framed Artworks
Caring for your art plexiglass:
Spray a small amount of non-ammonia glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth and wipe in a circular motion. Then, with a dry section of the cloth, wipe the glass surface dry to avoid water marks. If a microfiber cloth is not available, use a clean, lint-free cotton cloth. Do not use paper towels. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the glass — excess cleaner may seep into the frame and damage the artwork. Do not use acrylic cleaners or polishing agents on art plexiglass.
Caring for your frame:
Wipe with a soft, dry microfiber cloth only.
Sculpture
Caring for your bronze sculpture:
Rule of Thumb: Treat your sculpture like fine furniture — gentle care, stable environment, no harsh cleaners.
Handling:
- Always handle with clean, dry hands or cotton/nitrile gloves.
- Lift sculptures with two hands supporting the base — never by protruding elements.
- Avoid touching the surface directly — oils can damage coatings.
Display:
- Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, or humidity.
- Avoid kitchens, bathrooms, or fireplaces (moisture & grease).
- Maintain stable indoor conditions (40–55% humidity).
Cleaning:
- Dust regularly with a very soft brush (sable/goat hair or microfiber), working slowly without pressing down.
- Use a camera-style compressed-air bulb for hard-to-reach crevices (safer than canned air).
- Never use soaps, solvents, alcohol, or household cleaners.
Preservation:
- Use UV-filtering glass/shades if near windows.
- Call a professional conservator if you notice flaking, peeling, or discoloration.
Caring for your Clear Acrylic Sculptures:
Rule of Thumb: Treat acrylic like crystal — gentle, soft, and chemical-free care will preserve clarity.
Understanding the Material:
Acrylic (often Lucite or Plexiglas) is softer than glass and scratches easily. It can become cloudy or yellow if exposed to harsh chemicals, UV light, or high heat. Static electricity attracts dust, so careful cleaning is essential.
Handling:
- Always handle with clean, dry hands or cotton/nitrile gloves.
- Lift sculptures with two hands supporting the base — never by protruding elements.
- Avoid contact with jewelry, watches, or zippers that can scratch.
Display:
- Place away from direct sunlight — UV rays can cause yellowing.
- Keep away from heat sources (fireplaces, vents, radiators).
- Ideal environment: stable temperature, moderate humidity (40–55%).
Cleaning & Dusting:
- Dust regularly with a very soft microfiber cloth (no paper towels).
- For crevices, use a compressed-air bulb (camera style, no canned air).
- For smudges: use lukewarm water with a drop of mild, non-ammonia soap. Dampen a clean microfiber cloth, gently wipe, and immediately dry with another clean microfiber.
- Do not use Windex, glass cleaners, ammonia, alcohol, acetone, or solvents — these will haze or crack acrylic.
Scratch Prevention & Care:
- Avoid abrasive cloths or scrubbing.
- Place on a stable, dust-free pedestal with a protective felt base.
- If fine scratches develop, consult a professional conservator.
Long-Term Preservation:
- Use UV-filtering glass or shades if near windows.
- Regular gentle care will keep the acrylic clear and luminous for decades.
