About the Work

It is very important to Liudmila Kondakova to make people happy with her art. Her technique is very complex, and her studio looks like an alchemist’s laboratory, set up to fuse reality and a dream. However, she does not include any complicated concepts that require you to read long articles with obscure, and unfamiliar terms. Her art is simple and pleasing to the eye of the viewer but is also full of photographic details that enchant your way through a city skyline, a scene, or an object. She expects her art to be understood with the heart- from a person’s creative center. She hopes that people looking at her art will look at it with romance, light, and possibility in their hearts. She wants people to look at her art with parts of their creative spirit that can appreciate all the facets of life.
Liudmila Kondakova’s love for travel and architecture is fully demonstrated in her work. Whether she is traveling to London, Rome, Paris, Venice or Chicago she always tries to bring back part of her travels through her artwork. In her paintings Kondakova tries to portray the cities just as they are; mysterious and beautiful, humble and exalted, decaying and thriving.

“Buckingham Fountain” is a slight departure from Kondakova’s architectural work. Located in Chicago “Buckingham Fountain” is a Chicago landmark in the center of Grant Park. Built in 1927, it is one of the largest fountains in the world. Although located in Chicago, the fountain was inspired by the Latona Fountain at the Palace of Versailles, proving that Kondakova tries to find reminders of Paris wherever she goes. The background of the artwork is just as impressive as the fountain. The Chicago impressive architecture is shimmering in the background, and the moon is still visible in the dark blue sky. Sporadic clouds are seen in the evening sky, and it makes for a magical still moment. “Buckingham Fountain" is a lithograph in an edition of 395 and hand-signed by the artist and numbered. Image size: 9 x 6.75 inches. Paper size: 11 x 12 -inches.
