About the Work

It is essential to Liudmila Kondakova to make people happy with her art. Her technique is very complex, and her studio looks like an alchemist’s laboratory, set up to fuse reality and a dream. However, she does not include any complicated concepts that require you to read long articles with obscure, and unfamiliar terms. Her art is simple and pleasing to the eye of the viewer but is also full of photographic details that enchant your way through a city skyline, a scene, or an object. She expects her art to be understood with the heart, from a person’s creative center. She hopes that people looking at her art will look at it with romance, light, and possibility in their heart. She wants people to look at her art with parts of their creative spirit that can appreciate all the facets of living.

Liudmila Kondakova’s love for travel and architecture is fully demonstrated in her work. Whether she is traveling to London, Rome, Paris, New York, Venice or San Francisco, she always tries to bring back part of her travels through her artwork. In her paintings Kondakova tries to portray the cities just as they are; mysterious and beautiful, humble and exalted, decaying and thriving.

“City by The Bay” was created in 2008 and it is Kondakova’s nod to San Francisco and it’s unique architecture. In the frontal view, we have Victorian architecture as the most prevalent type of architecture in the city, and it contains a multitude of styles. In the back, we see the modern architecture represented by skyscrapers and metallic composition.  In “City by The Bay” we see how Kondakova brings together two different eras in architecture to merge them into one complete artwork that speaks about the city and the artwork. “City by the Bay” is a 6.75 x 9- inch, hand signed lithograph on paper.
