About the Work

Liudmila Kondakova’s paintings are so rich with clarity and light that they reflect in their extraordinary draftsmanship a sense of artistic and spiritual well-being. One might describe her style as Romantic Realism. Her meticulous attention to detail allows us to become intimately involved in the life of her paintings. In the artist’s words: “ To me, these streets, with their worn cobblestones and aged buildings, evoke a sense of nostalgia and romance with a touch of melancholy.

In “Dawn in Jackson Square” Liudmila Kondakova brings to magical life the St. Louis Cathedral which is located in Jackson Square. A historic park in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960, for its a central role in the city’s history and as the site where in 1803 Louisiana was made United States territory under the Louisiana Purchase.
Although a departure from her beloved city of Paris “Down at Jackson Square” remains true to Kondakova’s love for architecture, and her distinct, precise style of art. The purple hues in the artwork speak about the upcoming evening. The blooming trees are a clear sign of Spring and the flowers in the park a color coordinate to add life to an already magnificent artwork. “Dawn in Jackson Square” is a 9.5 x 7.75 – inch hand-signed lithograph on paper.
