About the Work
"Paris Sunset" is an enhanced serigraph on canvas created by Kerry Hallam in 2002. From the edition of 281, the artwork is signed 'Kerry Hallam' lower right and annotated lower left. The canvas size is 21 x 28" and the artwork is framed in a classic, gold-tone frame. The artwork ships framed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Kerry Hallam reveals a soft spot for Paris in this gentle and romantic depiction. His masterful use of color and light, impressionistic in nature, soothes the eye and calms the soul, just as it would if you were there to see it in person.
There may not be much that Paris has in common with the rest of the world – no other place can match its romance, its bon vivant reputation. No streets are quite the same, no history quite as rich. Yet every day, as in every other city in the world, the same thing happens: the sun goes down. However, because this is Paris the sunset here is not quite the same as the sunset anywhere else.
Kerry Hallam knew this, and he brings the Parisian sunset to us in his own, inimitable way in "Paris Sunset." The French call this time-of-day crepuscule (twilight), the magical moment between day and night. Everything takes on another appearance – the flowers whose colors were so vivid in the bright light of day become more muted, whereas the Seine River, by day a nondescript muddy brown, takes on a golden sheen. Before it gets dark enough for the lights of the city to come to life, a golden pink aura settles on the horizon, blending the colors together in a harmony of light.
